Adjust as necessary before filling in the hole with soil or concrete, making sure to tamp down the fill material to secure the post firmly.
What’s the best way to backfill post holes?
After placing your post in the hole, you can backfill with soil, gravel or concrete. For a more secure hold, especially in areas with loose or sandy soil, concrete is often the best choice. If using concrete, mix it to the right consistency, pour it around the post and tamp it down to remove air pockets. Ensure the post remains level as the concrete sets. If using soil or gravel, fill the hole in layers, compacting each layer as you go to ensure stability.
